Good Samaritan Returns Wallet

By Ken Montville

Normally, when you find out that you've misplaced your wallet or billfold you get on the phone to cancel all your credit cards and debit cards. You make arrangements to get a new driver's license and go through all the hassle of reconstructing all your lost stuff...and then there's the cash.

Recently, my wife stopped at a gas station to fill up on her way to work. Going through the motions, she didn't realize that she missed sliding her hand into her coat pocket with her wallet and it had dropped to the ground. She went on her merry way totally ignorant that she had lost her wallet.

While I was working at home, I got a call from AAA-Mid Atlantic that told me someone had found her wallet. I guess the Good Samaritan had looked inside, found the AAA card and called trying to track down the owner of the lost wallet.

My wife and the woman who found the wallet (someone who was filling up her car right behind my wife) made arrangements to meet later that day. Sure enough, they met at a local McDonald's and the Good Samaritan return the wallet with all the cards and ID and over $100 in cash - all intact.

Good luck? Phenomenally good luck, if you ask me. I would have expected anyone find this wallet would have taken the cash and cards and thrown the rest in the dumpster. Not so, this time.

There really are Christmas miracles.

It is always nice to hear about good deeds. Just this week, an 8 year old boy found over $800.00 cash in a parking lot. He and his mother turned the money in and are awaiting the owner of the money to claim it.
Someone will have a Merry Christmas through the good will of others.
Great intel.
Thank you.

Finding $800 in cash and then returning it is both rare and wonderful. It renews my faith in my fellow man. Perhaps there is hope!
